Abraxis
This cafe is tucked away in an alley near Dam Square. It has three floors with wood paneling. The top floor has live marijuana plants if you go up for the small stuff. It is a beautiful place with a great view from the top. If you’re not afraid of heights, hop up to the top floor to see the glass wall that leads to the ground floor.
Barney’s Breakfast Bar
This coffee shop is ideal for early risers. It opens earlier than other cafes and serves a great breakfast. Barney’s is a great place to visit if you’re new to the city and there’s nothing else around.
The Stone Corner
There are two options in the Red Light District. The first is larger and more bar-like. The second is smaller, sleeker, and more lounge-like. It has large glass windows that overlook a busy pedestrian street. This makes it a great place for people-watching.
Homegrown Fantasy
This charming and quirky place has the feel of a modern art museum. Although it’s easy to overlook, the interior is spacious and comfortable. It is located on a quiet street but is easily accessible from Dam Square or Centraal Station. This is a unique and rewarding place to visit.
Baba
This is a great little store with a nice view of the Warmeostraat in the red light district. They are open every night from 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. This is not the place for you if you don’t like trance and house music. But it is a haven for those who do.
Hill Street Blues
Baba can be found just 30 seconds away when it’s busy. The backroom offers a nice view of the Centraal Station harbor. This is a great place to relax. You can also play pool in the game room on the ground floor.
Tops Coffeeshop
It’s a little off the main street, but it’s worth it. The staff is friendly and helpful. The sound system works well, the food and drinks are great, and the best thing is the spectacular view of the Prinsengracht. Summer is a good time to enjoy the outdoor seating and open doors.
